Mog or Die separates three player-customization systems: Abilities can be unlocked and rolled, Genetics are chosen for every run, and MOG Finishers can be unlocked and equipped. Those distinctions are official. The public description does not provide the current names, effects, rarities, odds, prices, slots, or unlock requirements, so a safe build starts by reading exact in-game text and recording what survives a reset.

Use Abilities to solve a gameplay problem, Genetics to shape the current run, and Finishers only according to their displayed effect or cosmetic role. Do not combine the three into one tier list. A rare-looking option can be worse for your route than a clearly described effect that supports collection, battle comparison, survival, or recovery.

The phrase ā€œpowerful abilitiesā€ supports the existence of gameplay effects, not a specific roster. The phrase ā€œunique Finishersā€ does not prove that a Finisher changes damage, MogPoints, or battle results. Let the live description of each option define its role.

Choose an Ability by the problem it solves

Before rolling, name the current problem. You may need safer ordinary-item collection, better movement through a contested area, help in a boss encounter, a more stable MOG BATTLE plan, or faster recovery after a reset. Read the exact effect and decide whether it addresses that problem under conditions you can actually meet.

Compare reliable utility with uncertain rarity. A common option whose text clearly works throughout the route can outperform a rare option with a narrow trigger. Do not reroll just because a community list uses a lower letter grade; the current game build and your run decide the value.

Record the cost before confirming and the resulting name afterward. If the menu offers lock, equip, or reroll controls, verify which one is active. A new roll appearing on screen does not prove it is equipped.

Treat Genetics as a run decision

The official description explicitly ties Genetics to every run. Read all available choices before selecting. Consider the four-stat route, expected battles, world objective, and what you can afford to lose if another player chooses MOG.

Avoid choosing solely by color or an unfamiliar percentage. Translate the visible text into an action: which pickup changes, when the effect starts, what condition activates it, and whether it helps before the run’s riskiest objective. If two choices look close, prefer the one you can verify within the current route.

After selecting, take a screenshot of the Genetics name and effect. Check whether it appears in the HUD and whether a second choice replaces, stacks with, or sits beside the first. Do not assume stacking until the interface or a controlled result shows it.

Equip Finishers without guessing their power

Open the Finishers collection and identify owned, locked, preview, and equipped states. Record the exact name and unlock source. If the panel calls the item cosmetic or shows no gameplay effect, do not claim a stat or reward bonus based on animation length.

Preview before equipping when possible. Confirm that the selected Finisher remains equipped after closing the menu and after a rejoin. If it appears at the end of a MOG result, separate its presentation from the battle comparison and MogPoints settlement.

Use the Finishers list for a player-owned record that leaves unsupported rarity and price fields blank.

Build evidence with controlled comparisons

Baseline

Record four stats, route, opponent or objective, current Genetics, Ability, Finisher, server date, and result before changing anything.

One change

Swap or roll exactly one system. Keep the same route and comparable conditions so the outcome can be connected to that change.

Repeat

Reproduce the effect across several pickups, battles, or attempts. A visual flash is not enough to establish a hidden multiplier.

Persistence

Check after being MOGGED, run restart, death, rejoin, and server change only when safe. Label account and run effects separately.

If an effect changes with a Risk Zone, weather event, Golden collectible, Mog Drop, bounty, King role, or boss, record that context. Do not generalize a zone bonus to the entire world.

Spend rolls and MogPoints carefully

The public description does not say which currency pays for Ability rolls, Genetics, or Finishers. MogPoints are a likely player question because they are earned by MOG and the current code, but do not state a price until the live menu explicitly names it.

Before spending, note your balance, the displayed cost, any reroll warning, pity or guarantee text if present, and whether the current option will be lost. Use the cheapest controlled test first. Do not spend all 2,500 code MogPoints on repeated rolls before checking what remains after a run reset.

Avoid external roll simulators or extensions that ask for account access. The in-game menu is the authority for the current pool and cost.

Why there is no trusted tier list yet

A defensible tier list needs a complete current roster, exact effect text, comparable conditions, version date, and a stated goal. None of those datasets is published in the first-party description, and no independent current sources found in this check supplied a corroborated full list.

Until that evidence exists, compare options by role instead of letter grade: collection utility, battle reliability, boss value, Risk Zone value, recovery value, and persistence. Call an option ā€œuseful for this routeā€ rather than ā€œbestā€ when the pool and odds are unknown.

The Abilities list shows the fields that a named entry must satisfy. Unknown fields remain unset rather than filled with invented values.

Recover after a bad roll or reset

If a roll replaces a useful effect, stop before spending again. Record the new option, determine whether it supports another route, and check for a lock or equip state. Chasing the previous option without published odds can consume the entire balance.

After being MOGGED, check whether the Ability, Genetics, and Finisher each persist. Genetics are specifically described per run, while the other two use unlock/equip language; that wording suggests different scopes but does not prove the exact reset behavior. Let the current post-reset UI decide.

Abilities FAQ

What is the best Ability?

No complete verified roster or comparison dataset is public. Choose by exact effect, current run goal, cost, and repeatable result.

Are Genetics permanent?

The official wording says they are chosen for every run. Exact replacement and persistence behavior still needs a live check.

Do Finishers increase rewards?

No public source confirms a reward or battle bonus. Treat them according to the current item text and result screen.

Source and confidence

Abilities, per-run Genetics, and unlockable/equippable MOG Finishers are Official systems, checked August 27, 2026. Every entity name, rarity, effect, cost, probability, unlock, slot, and persistence rule needs in-game testing.
